MANILA, Philippines–A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) on Friday morning abruptly stopped as its brake system went haywire.

MRT General Manager Roman Buenafe told INQUIRER.net in a text message that an MRT train made an abrupt stop shortly after it left the Ayala station past 8:21 a.m., causing passengers to fall like dominoes.

The passengers were unloaded at the Ayala station.

He said the defective train returned to being operation after a few minutes but the passengers were loaded to another train for their safety.

On Feb. 17, an MRT-3 train made a sudden stop hit two sudden brakes in between the Kamuning and Santolan stations, with one ultimately causing the passengers to fall.

Buenafe said the train was immediately brought to the MRT-3 depot for checking and possible repair.

He said the management is now checking for possible injuries caused by the incident.

The MRT-3 as of posting time is on normal operations.
