MANILA – Operations at the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) 1 and 2 will not be affected by the Metro Manila-wide earthquake drill on Wednesday.

This was the assurance made by MRT and LRT management to commuters asking if there would be any change in their operations throughout the quake drill.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), however, said that operations of the three rail systems will stop for one minute at 9 a.m. but will resume immediately after.

There will also be one train at the LRT-1 Central Station in Manila that will have a rescue scenario.

The Metro-wide shake drill is initiated by the MMDA as part of the preparations in case a powerful earthquake hits Metro Manila.

It will also be held simultaneously in the adjoining provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna.
