MANILA - A train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) stalled near Ortigas station around noon Wednesday, forcing passengers to walk on the tracks.

Reports said a southbound train of the MRT stopped just meters away from Ortigas station.

Passengers had to walk on the rails to reach the platform.

According to the management of the MRT, passengers reportedly heard a "loud bang" before the train stopped moving.

"As per passengers there is a loud bang underneath the train of second car. Passengers started to panic and alighted the train immediately," it said in a statement.

"Coordinated with station supervisor of station 7 and 6 to assist passengers walking on the tracks," it assured.

Normal train operations resumed at 1:18 p.m. - Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
