MANILA, Philippines — A southbound Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) train stopped and unloaded around 700 passengers at the line’s Boni Station on Friday afternoon.

An MRT-3 advisory said the passengers were unloaded at the Boni station after an electrical failure hit the train’s motor at 1:29 pm.

After 8 minutes, the unloaded passengers were allowed to board the next train, MRT said.

MRT-3 said the cause of the electrical failure was “worn-out electrical sub-components such as main chopper, regulator and insulator.”

The line’s management also assured that it would undertake “preventive maintenance and replacement of the train’s electrical components.”
