(Updated 9 a.m.) A train's defective door caused the Metro Rail Transit to stop shortly its southbound trip on Thursday morning.
The stoppage occurred past 7 a.m. at the GMA-Kamuning station.
"Na-delay po. Moving na. Dahilan ay defective door," Engr. Ramon Buenafe, MRT general manager, told GMA News in a text message.
Passengers disembark
Earlier on Thursday, passengers were made to disembark at the Santolan Station.
Buenafe said the low voltage of electricity was not enough to ensure the proper operation of the train.
It only affected one train, Buenafe added.
The incident occurred past 5:30 a.m.
Buenafe later on said the MRT is now back in full operation, with 12 trains running.
‘A disappointment’
On Wednesday, Senate President Franklin Drilon called on President Benigno Aquino III to take "strong executive action" to address the plight of MRT commuters.
"I would like to see in the last year of the President some firm executive action on transport services. Let's face it, the MRT-3 is a disappointment," Drilon said in a television interview.
"I feel the frustration of our people and so the improvement of services in this area is really critical," he added. —KG, GMA News
