A northbound Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) train was forced to offload a thousand passengers during rush hour on Thursday evening due to a "door failure."
In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said the glitch was reported at Buendia Station at 6:19 p.m.
The glitch may have been caused by "stress in door components which may have caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open," the MRT-3 official said.
Narvaez said preventive maintenance would be applied on the affected train as well as the replacement of its door components.
The disembarked passengers boarded the next train that arrived at the station eight minutes after the incident.
As of 6:47 p.m., Narvaez said 11 trains were operational and running throughout the transit line.
