MANILA, Philippines — To mark International Women’s Day, female commuters will ride for free at the MRT-3 on March 8.


In a statement Tuesday, the MRT-3 management said women will get free rides from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.


MRT-3 General Manager Federico Canar said this gesture is one of their ways to thank their female employees and customers.


“Many of our ticket sellers are women, as well as the station officers who ensure there is enough and safe transportation for passengers every day,” he said.


International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 of each year.
